DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

 High School Athletics and Activities

2020-21 OFF-SEASON Protocol and Guidelines

September 8, 2020 - January 4, 2021

PARTICIPATION IN OFF-SEASON WORKOUTS/PRACTICES/MEETINGS BY DOUGLAS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS IS STRICTLY VOLUNTARY.  NO DCSD STUDENT WILL BE PENALIZED IN ANY WAY FOR FAILURE TO PARTICIPATE.

PER GOVERNOR POLIS’ ORDER, ALL PARTICIPANTS (STUDENTS AND COACHES) MUST WEAR FACE COVERINGS AT ALL TIMES WHILE INDOORS.

Participants must practice 6 ft social distancing when not engaging in the sport (in the dugout or on the sidelines).

Requirements for participation:

  • Students must sign COVID-19 waiver before participating.

  • Students will be checked by the coach/sponsor when they check-in to the activity.  If a student/coach/sponsor answers yes to any of the questions listed on the Monitoring Form, the student/coach/sponsor is not allowed to participate and must be sent home.

  • Students with a fever of 100 degrees or higher are not allowed to participate in workouts/practices/meetings.

  • Coaches/sponsors will maintain attendance/symptoms records for each day of workouts/practices/meetings.

  • Students must follow all posted and verbal instructions at all times while participating in the activities.

  • Students will be responsible for supplying their own face coverings.

  • While indoors, all participants (students/coaches/sponsors) must wear a face covering at all times.

  • While outdoors, all non-active participants (coaches, volunteers, and managers) must wear a face covering throughout the practice, event, and competition. This includes students not actively participating in the practice, event, or competition.

  • Good hygiene will be reinforced.  Hand sanitizer will be available.  Use of hand sanitizers and washing of hands will be frequent and ongoing.

  • Each student must have their own water bottle.

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment. DCSD provided equipment will be sanitized after each session.  Clothing should be washed and sanitized after workout is completed.

  • No family members or guests will be permitted to enter the location of the off-season workouts/practices/meetings, or gather for social interactions.  While waiting for their students, parents/guardians should remain in their vehicles in the parking lots.

  • A maximum of 50 students are allowed in any indoor area (gymnasium, weight room, etc.).

  • No more than 50 students in the outdoor practice area (fields, open areas, etc.) at any time.

  • Workouts will be conducted in “pods” of students with the same students always working out together.  Smaller pods can be utilized for weight training.  If someone in the pod tests positive for COVID-19, ALL pod members will be unable to participate for 14 days.  Coaches/sponsors may want to consider smaller pods.

  • No congregating in common areas.

Students/coaches/sponsors MUST stay home if feeling ill.  Use of hand sanitizers and washing of hands frequently, as well as cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, will be ongoing.

Off-Season Protocol subject to change based on updated state and/or local health orders.

At any given time Off-Season activity could be suspended or canceled.

TRHS MARQUEE

TRHS Marquee

We are very excited to share information about our Grizzly Bear Backer Club and the launch of their new campaign to raise funding for an electronic marquee sign at the entrance to ThunderRidge!  This sign will allow us to better communicate with our community, including our feeder schools, about the many events happening at TRHS, and about staff and student achievements.  Click  here to support ThunderRidge High School Marquee organized by the Grizzly Bear Backer Club.
